Copper
Commemorative Coin. Little information is available about the
production of these commemorative copper coins. The front of the coin
shows the Utah symbol of a beehive plus the patriotic eagle, with the
addition of small swarm of bees. The eagle, the beehive, and the word
"Industry" are a simplification of the recently created State Seal of Utah
(designed by Harry Emmett Edwards in 1896). The back of the coin says
"Utah Pioneer Jubilee / Centennial Coin / Salt Lake City / July 20-24,
1897." (Accession # 90002-091; dimensions: diam. .75"; donor: unknown) |
