This is Still the Place: Utah's 1897 Pioneer Jubilee

   

Brigham Young Hall Tree. This Victorian hall tree, designed for holding umbrellas, coats, combs, and calling cards, was carved out of mahogany by Ralph Ramsey and William Bell. The elaborate showpiece is embellished with hand-carved oak leaves, acorns, grapes, roses, and an elk head. The hall tree won several prizes in territorial fairs in the late 1800s and was displayed in the northeast corner of the Hall of Relics in 1897 with "Furniture from President Young's Old Residence."
